Facts refer to specific pieces of information that are verifiable and objective (for example, specific machine settings).
 
When considering a learning solution that involves facts, we must first determine if the fact must be recalled directly from memory. If it is essential to recall and apply factual knowledge in real-time such as during a customer conversation, then a learning solution is appropriate.
 
And, unless those facts are recalled and applied frequently, it is critical to space retrieval practice over time to refresh and reinforce memory. In other words, they need to practice often… and that it where it is helpful to use a variety of instructional techniques.
 
If a fact does NOT need to be recalled from memory, then we should focus on simply showing where and how to efficiently look it up. We don’t want to waste precious learning time and energy on something they should be able to easily reference.
